Building New Pathways
As Schools and Industry partners express interest in developing new ways to encourage activity along specific Pathways, the role of Post Secondary Education is gaining attention an momentum. SAIT is positioned to help with both of these connections in order to complete the roadmap.
The process begins with a request from the participating High School, with sanctioning from the overseeing School Board. Next, a dialog is begun with Career Practitioners or the Community of Practice in the High School with the relevant SAIT Instructor counterparts, along with Academic Coordinators and Managers with Dean approval.
Digital Rights Management is an attempt to put safeguards on the IP (intellectual property) of the contributors while giving them proper recognition for their work and possible retasking of Digital Objects.
One model for the collaboration is to have the newly formed community identify the scope of learning objectives and compitencies through a Gap Analysis. The missing pieces could then be addressed in order to give Students what they need to better prepare them for Life in a Post Secondary environment. SAIT and other PS institutes will benefit from having better prepared students with a higher chance of success and lower attrition.
